According to former president John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) plans to hire college graduates and qualified individuals with good math skills as party agents for the 2024 general elections.
In his bid to be chosen as the NDC’s flagbearer for the general elections of 2024, Mr. Mahama stated to party members in Ketu North on Friday, March 3, that agents would not be chosen based on who joined the party first or who has served the longest.
Who can do accurate calculations and comprehend numbers is what matters, he claimed.

“The next point I want to make is about polling agents. Our basis for selecting polling agents should not be who came to the party first. It should be who can do the job for us.
“Today, the election is not the kind of election it used to be in the past. Today, you need somebody who is educated to sit at the polling station, somebody who can work arithmetic, if you can’t work arithmetic you are no use to us in the polling station because you should be able to look at the figures and, make sure that the figures are exactly what was counted in the ballot box. You should be able to compare the number on the biometric machine and make sure that that number is the same as the number of ballot papers in the ballot box.
“If you are a chairman and you can’t work arithmetic or an executive and you can’t qualify to be a polling agent you have children who are in university, you have children who are in training colleges, bring them and let us train them and on that day let them go and sit there for us and do the job so that we can win the election.”
He also emphasized to the delegates the importance of being vigilant to win the general elections in 2024.
Ghanaians, he continued, are looking forward to the NDC taking office.
“We dare not to fail them,” he said.
“NDC will win the 2024 general election if you are very vigilant, we need 1005 per vigilance,” he further indicated.”
Mr. Mahama launched his campaign in Ho, Volta Region on Thursday, March 2 to contest in the internal elections of the largest opposition party.
The 2020 presidential candidate of the NDC said among other things that.
“We will strictly enforce prudence and responsibility in the management of public finances by cutting out waste and ostentation, which have become commonplace under this administration.
“Together, we will build the Ghana we want. We shall restore faith in our almost collapsed financial system and embark on sweeping reforms at the Bank of Ghana.
“We shall actively pursue policies to ensure robust local participation in our banking, financial, telecommunications, mining, agriculture, agribusiness and manufacturing sectors. This will be anchored on our plan to grow the economy and create sustainability. employment for our youth,” Mr. Mahama said.
