Franklin Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, a former member of parliament for Ketu South, has been chosen to serve as the NDC’s new general secretary (NDC).
According to preliminary results that 3news.com has so far received, Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, a deputy general secretary, and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the director of elections, are trailing the former deputy finance minister by a wide margin.
Mr. Fiavi Kwetey is in the lead in almost all of the 17 polling stations whose results have been released so far.
In the Greater Accra Region, for example, the former Minister of Food and Agriculture received 433 votes out of the total valid votes cast, compared to 330 for Dr Boamah Otokunor and 216 for Mr Afriyie Ankrah, according to preliminary results.
He won the North East Region again with 260 votes, while in the Savannah Region, he leads Dr Otokunor (109) and Mr Afriyie Ankrah (44) with 418 votes.
In general, the former agriculture minister has 4,536 votes so far, followed by Dr. Otokunor and Mr. Afriyie Ankrah with 2,584 and 1,401 votes, respectively.
