Despite his vocal prowess, renowned Ghanaian gospel artist Joe Mettle, also known as Joseph Oscar Nii Armah Mettle, confessed that his aim was to become an architect.
He claimed that although having the thought of singing or performing music in the future in the back of his mind, he also understood that he wanted to pursue a profession in construction.
‘I actually started though; I started drawing and I used to do building drawing. I went to Modesco to learn that for a while thinking I could probably get into KNUST or any other institution to further it, but it didn’t happen,’On February 23, 2023, he remarked in an interview with Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning.
The “BO NOO NI” hitmaker also stated that when he entered university, he studied marketing rather than architecture since architecture required focus and a lot of time.
According to the musician, architecture was not like other industries where one might learn while working.
“I knew I was spending a lot of my time doing ministry, so I wanted to do something else that wouldn’t affect the ministry and so I decided to go ahead to study marketing,”The performer observed.
The 2017 VGMA Gospel Artiste of the Year admitted that he had severe guardianship as a child and used to sell alongside his mother to make ends meet.
He said that they sold prepared meals and Waakye leaves among other things, which allowed him to learn about marketing-related topics and finally fail at marketing.
