Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, Chairman of the National Media Commission (NMC), has called on Johnson Asiedu Nketia, newly elected Chairman of the National Democratic Commission (NDC), to resign from the Parliamentary Service Board.
He stated that the position necessitates absolute neutrality, which he believes a political party leader cannot provide.
Mr Asiedu Nketia, who was elected NDC National Chairman over incumbent Samuel Ofosu Ampofo at the weekend, has been on the board since 2021.

As the Speaker of Parliament’s nominees to the Board, he was appointed alongside former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament Abraham Ossei Aidoo.
The Speaker serves as the chair, and the members are the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, and Clerk of Parliament, Cyril Nsiah.
However, Mr. Ayeboafo asserts that it is unconstitutional for a political party leader to advise the Speaker in this case.
He cited the case of the late Peter Ala Adjetey, who was dismissed from the Commission due to his position as NPP National Chairman.
The constitution was changed, according to the former Editor-in-Chief of the official newspaper Daily Graphic, to ensure that Mr. Ala Adjetey would not continue serving as a member of the Commission.
“So, if someone holding political office cannot be a member of the Commission, how can someone leading a political party advise the Speaker, who is supposed to demonstrate the highest level of objectivity and neutrality?”
