Wendy Shay has defied expectations yet again, becoming Boomplay’s most-streamed female artist in 2022.
The only female Ghanaian artist to appear on Boomplay’s Top 10 songs out of their weekly Top 100 songs was the musician signed to Rufftown Records earlier in the year when the streaming service released its mid-year statistics for streams.
Black Sheirf’s “Kwaku The Traveller,” which came in at number ten on the charts, was immediately overtaken by Wendy Shay’s “Survivor” at that time.
Given Wendy Shay’s accomplishment for the middle of the year, it is not surprising that she will end 2022 as the female artist with the most streams.
She defeated Gyakie and Diana Hamilton, who finished second and third, respectively, to take home this prestigious award.
Wendy Shay’s ‘Survivor,’ a self-affirming story about picking up shattered pieces after a major heartbreak, was one of the songs that greatly aided her in accomplishing this feat.
Also, the release of her ‘Enigma EP,’ which includes the viral ‘Habibi’ song, has helped the award-winning singer go home with bragging rights as one of the artists whose songs were heavily streamed in 2022.
Without a doubt, the singer would like to keep this record and improve upon it in 2023.
In an upheaval, Wendy Asiamah Addo made her musical debut. Her delivery of relatable hit songs over the years has been a testament to her grit and perseverance.
