Kwame Dadzie a popular and astute Ghanaian entertainment journalist, event MC, and voice-over artist queries about the performance of the MCs for the OB Amposah’s recent comedy show.
The show titled “Ghanaian by card” hosted at the national theatre saw Ghanaian Musicians Pappy Kojo and C-real as MCs for the night.
kwame took to his verified Facebook wall to express his satisfaction with the two inexperienced MCs of the night.
“WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MCs AT OB AMPONSAH’S COMEDY SHOW?
I enjoyed every single comedian that performed at OB Amponsah’s ‘Ghanaian by Card’ comedy show – but not the MCs.
I have a lot of respect for C-real; brilliant dude. I admire his rap prowess; I like his great submissions on 3Music’s ‘Culture Daily’. But his performance as MC at OB Amponsah’s comedy special was not impressive. He appeared too ‘gentle’ for the show. A lot of the time, his back was facing the audience; his communication with patrons was zero.

Pappy Kojo’s sense of humour could have neutralized the situation, but it was clear he did not prepare for the show.
What got me angry was when for about 15 minutes, there was a void, and none of the MCs came on stage to engage the audience.
I’m not saying we should not try new people for such tasks, but we should not underestimate the role of MCs at events. People who are ‘new’ to the game should be prepped well.
There are versatile MCs but not every MC fits every event. Not every MC can host a comedy show”.
